Publisher's Synopsis:
It started off like any other month, but when passengers on board a train are robbed at gunpoint and over the following weeks, a clothing manufacturer, a jewellery shop and finally a bookstore. What do all these places have in common? Besides, a young woman named Kelly Stanford since she was at each incident and became the victim of someone who took great pleasure in stealing her handbags, not to mention her Chick-Lit books. And just what type of thief are we dealing with here? Kelly tries to carry on as normal, but it all comes to a head when she falls for the new love interest to enter into her life. And she discovers her stolen Chick-Lit novels for sale in the second-hand wicker basket on the counter. Is it possible that the bookseller and the lone gunman are one and the same person? It would just be so typical of her luck without her late(adoptive) grandmother's broach, which was also taken in the first robbery. Find out more by reading this farcical, fun novella.
I absolutely loved Chick-Lit Saved my Life, by Maureen Reil. I came across this book while browsing through Goodreads and was immediately struck by the unusual title. Chick- Lit Saved My Life is laugh-out-loud funny. It is completely irreverent and hysterical! One particular incident in an elevator brought tears to my eyes with laughter. I instantly liked Kelly, the main character. She's an ordinary woman who's experiencing the month from hell! She's having one rollercoaster of a time and finds herself in some crazy situations, but she takes the madness of her life in her own inimitable, zany stride.
This is a wonderfully fantastical read which is written in the author's own unique style. I loved the author's sense of humour which shone throughout the entire book. Chick-Lit Saved my Life was a witty book which in ways I found easy to relate to and at times it felt like the little voice inside of my own head was coming to life. Kelly says and does all the inappropriate things that most of us would only dare to think. If you love Bridget Jones then you will love Kelly Stanford. Brilliant!
